This prestigious honor is given to an NOA member who, during the past year, has contributed time and talent in the most outstanding manner for the betterment of the visual health and welfare of the public, and to the profession.

As the association’s 2015 Optometrist of the Year, Dr. Chris Wolfe has had prominent roles this year in NOA advocacy, professional development, and governance activities.

In advocacy roles, Dr. Wolfe has chaired the NOA Legislative Committee, leading the efforts to pass legislation to protect consumers from kiosks and other online technologies, including assisting in drafting the legislation.  He serves on the AOA State Government Relations Committee, monitoring and advising states all across the country on legislative issues and strategies.  During 2015, he has helped coordinate the NOA statewide grassroots political network and served as the association’s key contact for two state senators.  He has been actively involved in developing and presenting testimony at legislative hearings and in interviewing candidates on behalf of the association.  He is a top level contributor to the NOA Political Action Committee and helped raise money for several political candidates for last year’s statewide elections.

During the past year, he has been an active member of the association’s task force that has conducted an extensive feasibility study for creation of a new optometric IPA (Independent Provider Association). As an optometric educator, Dr. Wolfe has worked with KMK Education Services to develop and present education on a broad range of topics and he is a highly regarded lecturer and presenter.

A second generation optometrist, he is a 2003 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a 2008 graduate of Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry.

During optometry school, he served as president of the American Optometric Student Association, where he represented over 6,000 members.  He is a partner in Exclusively Eyecare, and a member of the NOA Board of Directors.  Dr. Wolfe received the Young Optometrist of the Year Award from the Nebraska Optometric Association in 2013; the same group bestowed the Keyperson of the Year Award on Dr. Wolfe in 2014.
